ALTERNATIVE - PSYCHEDELIC

Half Hexagon are a new band from Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, New Zealand, made up of Yolanda Fagan (Na Noise, Echo Ohs), Julien Dyne (Soundway Records) and James Milne (Lawrence Arabia).

Begun as a musical correspondence during the Delta lockdown in August 2021, the potential of this marriage of James' analog synths and Julien playing Jaki Liebezeit influenced beats came excitingly into focus when Yolanda added her heavily effected vocals to the blend.

Once they were allowed to see each other, the band began getting together and writing songs in long improvisational jam sessions, fuelled by Orion beer, buzzing on the influences that inhabit the common part of the Venn diagram of their tastes: Neu!, Can, Brigitte Fontaine, Broadcast, ESG, Don Cherry, Silver Apples, King Tubby etc. etc.

Since then Half Hexagon have played Splore, Cubadupa, Nest Fest, 121 Festival, Newtown Festival and Flamingo Pier Festival, to name a few.
